It’s almost three months since the LA fires began ravaging the city on January 7th and while the tragedy is no longer headline news, approximately 150,000 victims of the Palisades and Eaton fires continue to face extreme challenges and an arduous road ahead. Those who lost their homes and all their possessions are still confronted with a complex range of problems, including financial strain from removal of toxic material from their property lines, potential underinsurance, difficulty finding affordable housing in a tight market, and the ongoing psychological toll of the intense trauma suffered. Survivors whose homes are still standing also face mounting difficulties from ballooning smoke remediation to restoration costs, as well as insurance companies that are lowballing payouts. Facing tens of thousands of dollars or more in costs to deep clean and remediate remaining toxins inside their homes, these fire victims anticipate being displaced for months as they try to rebuild their lives.

As those impacted continue to struggle, the Project ReWear team is committed to providing ongoing support through the sales of our #LAStrong clothing collection, and we were thrilled when our good friends at KTLA TV suggested we come in to do an LA Strong segment and highlight fashion brands that are giving back. On Thursday, March 20th, we arrived at the studios in Hollywood with our lovely models, including our friend, Ellie Shapiro. Ellie is an artist who lost everything in the Palisades and Malibu fire, but she is immensely cheerful and positive about the future, and always an inspiration to be around.

Showcasing six different fashion brands who have created uniquely designed garments to raise money - including Project ReWear - our models walked in our fashion show while our Digital Content Producer, Anna, who is a KTLA regular, explained the looks to Anchor, Kareen Winters. Discussing the passionate motive behind each brand’s commitment to the city of LA and its people, and the charities they are each supporting, it is evident that the fashion community is dedicated to helping their neighbors as they try to rebuild their lives, reminding us that giving back is always in style
In case you missed it, you can watch the segment here, find out more about the fashion pieces we showcased here, and if you haven’t already gotten your own preloved, limited edition Project ReWear t-shirt, you can get one either in our Thousand Oaks boutique or online here. Not only will you be making an impactful and stylish statement, you will also be helping to raise vital funds for our donations to California Community Foundation, Pasadena Humane, and LAFD Foundation Emergency Wildfire Fund. As with all of the brands featured on the KTLA LA Strong segment, we’re donating 100% of profits from the sale of each piece of our #LAStrong collection, ensuring that all monies made will authentically serve those who need it. Huge thanks to our brilliant models, Jonny, Maelyn, Wase, Simrin, Roj, Ellie, and of course our beautiful founder, Kimberly, who all brought the segment to life with their enthusiastic support of this ongoing cause.
